TLD
TLD means Top Level Domain.
This is the extension used in a Domain name like in google.com
The extension .com is a TLD |
There are 5 kinds of TLDs available on the Internet: |
|
 |
Generic TLDs (gTLDs) delegated by ICANN
During the last decade, various discussions occurred concerning the delegation of gTLDs. This lead to the selection of seven new TLDs for introduction in November 2000. These TLDs were introduced in 2001 and 2002. Four of the new gTLDs (.biz, .info, .name, and .pro) are unsponsored. The other three new gTLDs (.aero, .coop, and .museum) are sponsored. The rules and conditions to register domain names for gTLDs vary. It is not possible to register domain names for all gTLDs. |

Corporate TLDs (cTLDs) delegated by UNIDT
If the name of the TLD is the same as the COMPANY or TRADE NAME of a company, or if the name of a TLD is the same as a BRAND NAME then this TLD is called a Corporate TLD. Corporate TLDs are managed by corporations to promote and support their businesses. Usually there are no domain name registries for cTLDs. |

Public TLDs (pTLDs) delegated by MANROW
pTLDs names are not the same as a COMPANY, TRADE NAME or BRAND NAME. Usually it is possible for anyone to register domain names for pTLDs, however the rules and conditions to register domain names for pTLDs may vary. In order to be MANROW approved, registrars need to meet certain standards. Register.Bharat is Manrow approved! |

 |
Country Code TLDs (ccTLDs) delegated by IANA
Two-character TLDs are reserved as country code identifiers under ISO 3166. The appointment of a ccTLD manager is done in consultation with the participating country and ICANN. The selection of the ISO 3166-1 list as a basis for ccTLDs was made with the knowledge that ISO has a politically neutral procedure for determining which entities should be and should not be on that list. The rules and conditions to register domain names for pTLDs vary. Not all countries allow anyone to register domain names. |
|
|
Dormant TLDs (dTLDs) Extensions that are reserved for future use. (no registries available) |
|
|
The Internet Names Authorization & Information Center (INAIC) is the official representative body for all TLDs on the next generation Internet.
Register.Bharat registers domains under the public-TLDs (pTLDs) mentioned below. Register.Bharat is an INAICaccredited Registrar. This means that your domain at Register.Bharat, will be resolved on the next generation Internet instantly. |
| Currently all public Internet users world wide, are able to see all pTLDs (including all other TLDs). All other internet users, who still resolve from the old ICANN root, are limited to access gTLDs and ccTLDs only. Then you need to wait till you provider has upgraded its DNS Servers or you can upgrade your PC yourself. |
